Precious - in foster care
Age:10 years approx
Precious is GREAT with people. She's very friendly and social. She's beginning to become protective of her foster Mom's property, so she will bark when a stranger comes onto the property but is not aggressive towards them. In fact she ends up giving kisses more than anything. Update from her foster Mom: I also took her to a dog park yesterday...I swear she was in doggy heaven! She was a very good girl but played a bit too much with a little boston terrier. Other than that, she's got along well with all the other dogs. She gets very anxious and pulls pretty hard in order to see other dogs and will bark. when not permitted. This is probably the most important thing that I think she needs to improve. On that note, I think a home without other dogs or with large breed males would be best for her. Potty training...she's been good. No accidents so far The only destructive thing I've observed was her snatching a bag of treats off the counter. I do find her to be quite clingy so far, following me from room to room and trying to go out the door with me everytime I leave. (these velcro dogs!) One important thing that I've noted is some hip/hind leg issues. The vet in Ottawa didn't mention anything about this but from past experience I can tell something's starting. She's still quite agile and full of energy, but every so often she'll stumble a bit or she will have a leg twitch (she kicks uncontrollably for a few seconds). I don't think it's a large issue but something to be aware of. I've also found a small bump on her back, but it could just be a cyst as these are common in older dogs. It doesn't seem to be of any discomfort. If you would like to help with Precious's sponsorship, or sponsoring another GSRT foster dog, you can make a donation through Canada Helps or paypal. Tax receipts will be provided for donations of $25 and more through Canada Helps. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Samantha - adopted!!!

Pretty Samantha is 6 years old and very sweet, she is also a special needs girl as she has epilepsy. Samantha is looking for a good home where she can play with her owners and show her affection. Samantha is a very sweet, smart, loyal and affectionate girl and is looking for someone to love. Enno passed away in foster care
Rest in peace sweet boy, and our deepest sympathies to his foster parents who loved him very much Age: senior
Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog." -
Sydney Jeanne Seward
HI! I'm Enno and I'm a cute senior. I've been living at my foster home for a while now and I'm feeling much better. They put me on supplements for my old bones and they are helping me a great deal! I've even started to walk up steps without help. When I first got there, I felt miserable but I felt more alive after meeting the new pack! I get along great with the 2 other GSD's. So now I have a foster sister and foster brother. And there are 2 cats as well and we all get along great. We walk often together throughout the day; I love walks but I can't do long walks yet, maybe when I get stronger. I do have to be walked on a leash, especially near roads, because I do wander (hey! I'm a guy!) I am a bit deaf but do react to certain sounds. I'm learning that the catfood is not for me (bummer...) and I can't eat the treats off the table (another bummer!) but hey! you tell me once and I'll know! Overall, I'm a superguy who needs time to gain trust. I actually lie down by my foster mom's legs on the floor now watching tv. I'm really starting to relax now which is great for everyone! So if you want to meet me; please do so! I need a loving forever home where they understand my needs, and with few stairs and a loving cozy home. Where they understand that I do need my Metacam meds and supplements. Other than that... we're good to go! Hope to meet you soon!!

Sassy - ADOPTED!!!!
Age:7 years approx
Sassy is currently in foster care, and seeking her forever friend. Sassy is a very social, and loyal German Shepherd Dog. Sassy was not well cared for before entering rescue, and is looking forward to life in a home where she gets to be the one and only animal of the house, or possibly with 1 nice mellow large breed male dog. In foster care, she can get along with the other large male German Shepherd, but does not care for female dogs, or smaller breeds, pretty common for our dogs. Sassy is house trained, listens to commands, and extremely friendly with the human species. Enjoys playing, and her special time with her human friends! Sassy has an eye condition called Pannus, and will require ongoing eye drops daily. She doesn't really like the drops, but is getting better at taking them every day. If you are looking for a wonderful loyal companion, please contact us! Please check back for more updates! If you would like to help with Sassy's sponsorship, or sponsoring another GSRT foster dog, you can make a donation through Canada Helps or paypal.
