Anika Memorial Fund

Anika von der Pracht
July 10th, 2000 to June 15th, 2001

Anika - you were such a beautiful girl. I am so very sorry we could not help you in time. If we had known sooner, we would have moved heaven and earth to save you.

Anika was a shy dog who was bought for breeding and schutzhund purposes by Von der Tasil German Shepherds in Nebraska.  (Anika's littermate thankfully went to a good home and is loved by her new "parents" and their children.)  The breeder then decided to get into German lines rather than a mix of German and American lines and decided Anika was not suitable for her new breeding program. The breeder who purchased her also took no time to work with her, and was busy running her breeding and importing "business", which has since folded.

Less than a month before Anika was destroyed, the breeder sent e-mails out describing Anika as a shy girl, who was not suitable for breeding or schutzhund but who would make a wonderful companion to a special family. Less than a month later an 11 month old baby was destroyed for shyness and timid behavior. This is an absolute disgrace. And to leave her alone with strangers she was so fearful of in her last moments to die in a shelter- I am ashamed of those involved.

We at GSRT have started this fund, in memory of sweet Anika, to try and raise funds to help others in need just like Anika, so that they will not suffer and die alone. Please consider helping us help others in need.

Rest in peace sweet baby girl
